This nationally accredited short course will provide you with the essential skills and practical knowledge required to confidently extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders.
Students will learn under the guidance of the very best qualified and professional trainers.
This short course also includes the pre-requisite unit SITXFSA001 Use Hygienic Pracitces for Food Safety.
This comprehensive module covers everything from the history of coffee through to grinding, brewing and milk chemistry.
Within this short course students will learn the essentials of food hygiene as well as gain industry knowledge in areas including how to advise customers on coffee beverages, select and grind coffee beans, prepare and assess espresso coffee beverages and how to use, maintain and clean espresso machines and grinders.
This short course contains a total of two units, including one pre-requisite unit:
Training will take place at Icon Training Academy's state-of-the-art training facility at Robina Town Centre.
This comprehensive short course will consist of both online and practical learning.
The online learning aspect of this short course is completed as self-paced learning and assessment, which is to be successfully fulfilled prior to practical taking place. Practical learning will be scheduled into 2 x 3 hour training sessions, basic & master barista training, held every Friday and is to be completed in-person at our training facility in Robina Town Centre.
On successful completion of this short course, students will be awarded with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment certificate.

Students are required to wear closed in, non-slip shoes for the practical training.
Students may also be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment to determine any learner support requirements.

Completed similar courses or training? If students hold prior relevant work experience or formal qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), these may count as credit towards specific units. Please contact us for more information regarding eligibility or applications for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
