The SIT20416 Certificate II in Kitchen Operations provides the ideal foundation for those seeking a career within the commercial cookery industry.
This entry-level qualification is designed as a pathway to prepare students with the essential technical skills and hands-on industry experience to take the next step into an apprenticeship or traineeship, or further study within the hospitality sector.
Students will learn under the guidance of the very best qualified and professional chefs.
Within this qualification students will develop industry knowledge in the basics of food preparation and cookery skills, including how to use hygienic practices, maintain perishable goods, prepare basic dishes and how to clean kitchen premises and equipment.
This nationally accredited qualification provides the foundations required to upskill and pursue further course studies in the hospitality industry, or go on to university.
This qualification contains a total of 13 units. These units are made up of 8 core units plus 5 elective units.

Training will take place at Icon Training Academy's state-of-the-art training facility at Robina Town Centre.
This qualification will take approximately six (6) months to complete.
$2,643 per person, subject to eligibility.

Successful completion of this qualification provides a pathway for individuals to be competent to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs and cafés, in which roles may include breakfast cook, fast food cook, sandwich hand, takeaway cook or catering assistant.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, students may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment to determine any learner support requirements.

Completed similar courses or training? If students hold prior relevant work experience or formal qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), these may count as credit towards specific units.
