The food Safety Supervisor course is perfect if you are looking to work in restaurants, hotels, cafes, bistros, or any other similar environment. With the knowledge and skills gained from this course, you will be able to confidently supervise others in the food handling process and help create a safe and healthy environment for everyone involved.

 

This course is for all Food Safety Supervisors in all States and Territories within Australia NOT NSW.

 

This course will teach you how to use hygienic practices for food safety, and how to participate in safe food handling practices. As a Food Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that the food you prepare is safe to eat. You will learn about the different types of food contaminants, how to prevent them from spreading, and what to do if there is a food safety incident.

 

This course is for Food Safety Supervisors working in the hospitality and retail service sectors who are supervising: Kitchen Hands, Cooks, Chefs, Catering Staff, Food and Beverage Attendants, Sandwich Hands, Cooking Crew as well as Canteen Staff.

  • Food safety hazards and the positioning cycle
  • Controlling bacterial growth
  • Handling food safely
  • Important aspects of personal hygiene include the correct clothing, behaviour, illness, and hand washing techniques.
  • Cleaning and sanitising workstations and food preparation zones
  • Pest control near food and food storage
  • Basic reporting requirements for cleaning and maintenance tasks.

  • Food safety hazards are monitored and controlled as required by the food safety program
  • Food safety information is recorded to meet requirements of the food safety program
  • Processes or conditions which could result in a breach of food safety procedures are identified and
    reported
  • Corrective action is taken in accordance with the food safety program
  • Use food safety program information to find advice on food safety responsibilities relating to own work
  • Report practices or processes in own work that could result in unsafe food
  • Follow procedures to identify, separate and report product which is or may be non-conforming and/or
    implement other necessary corrective action within level of responsibility
  • Participate in investigating and reporting on unsafe food as identified by internal monitoring and/or

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, students may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment to determine any learner support requirements.
